Codeine usually takes around 15 hrs to be pretty much out of your system, whereas DHC takes around 20 hrs - how long a drug is in your body is different from the duration of noticeable effects of course. If you normally take 30mg of codeine I would go with 15mg of DHC.

Yes, it can be very excellent. But, are you opiate tolerant? Opiate naive? But, that small dosage of codeine should be fine, honestly. What you'd be worried about, is the tylenol that comes with the codeine, and the alcohol. Both can be VERY bad for your liver. But doing such low dosages, and only 2-3 beers, you SHOULD be fine.
