Today, in popular culture, “urban” (referring to white urban) is assumed to mean bohemian, alt-lifestyle or whatever, and sophistication is no longer a valued trait. The word itself is scarcely used, and if it were I suspect it would not be used in an entirely positive way. It's a depressing loss.
