Well, I think a major part of the fun of Elex is figuring things out for yourself and making the experience very unique to you and not follwing too many guides. But some of the mechanics of the combat system are explained pretty poorly by the in-game tutorial so I would recommend at least learning all you can about combat before getting into the game.
