I picked it over VCU & EVMS for similar reasons and it will open the most doors for you in terms of specialty but also top residency spots. EVMS and VCU are both fantastic schools, of course but they don't have the same national reach, prestige, and opportunities of UVA.
UVA, VCU, EVMS each gives out 50% seats to OOS applicants while most of other states public medical schools is about 10-20% to OOS. The states like Texas, Kentucky and West Virginia almost nil to OOS. The seats for ORM get squeezed even further. This is reality. Talents find their places wherever prospects!
Anyone know how strict EVMS is on letters of recommendation? I didn't realize they required 2 science LORs and 1 non-science LOR-- I have 1 science LOR, an MD letter, a volunteer coordinator letter, and 2 research PI letters to choose from...
