In my experience from around 1994, I had access to lots of HD media and primarily used a DD drive in an Amiga. Covering the HD hole was only necessary if I was putting the disk in a HD drive (e.g. format the disk as MS-DOS for sharing between Amiga and PC), but in general HD disks worked almost 100% of the time.
This is a "in the hand of the user" issue to me at this point. My local hd. Dealer of course recommended that the syn3 can be used in all 3-holes without any worries, but some of that could still be a sales pitch.
This may be a stupid question but what are the amounts of fluids I need to do a 3 Hole Oil Change? Very new to Harley but want to do my own small services. Thanks guys and gals.
No, this is not about the write-protect hole/notch, it's about the hole on 3.5 inch HD floppies that tells the drive they are HD and not DD.
Also I am not against taking it to the dealer but just the phone quote for labor was 1400 and was 550 for the 3 hole and inspection. 3 hole seems pretty straight forward except for what fluids to use. Going with mobile 1 20w-50 for engine and primary and Harley brand 80w-140 gear oil for the transmission.
