I currently have an 20 inch .224 Valkyrie that I use for hogs. I don't hunt them very often, but I'm looking for a different upper or new rifle to use with my supressor. Since I have the supressor I would like a 16 inch for maneuverability. So what caliber would be best? Also recoil plays a...
I have a Savage hog hunter in .308 that I'm looking to upgrade to a LR rifle. I'm wanting to convert it to a removable magazine and upgrade the stock. If I buy a Bell and Carlson stock that is for a mag fed rifle and buy the stealth bottom metal from PTG, would I need anything else to do what I...
Re: .44 Magnum Hog Hunting I use 240gr RN very hard cast, 12.5gr of Unique with a mag pistol primer and a heavy 0.010-0.015 roll crimp. Runs around 1450 fps from my 9.5" barreled Super Redhawk. The hard cast doesn't deform very much and just drills through whatever it hits, so for deep penetration on a tough animal like a hog. For jacketed bullets, 240 or 265 Flex tips are good stuff.

I am about to finish building out a .22 ARC AR for coyotes and foxes at night. I am scheduled to go to Florida in February on a hog hunt. I typically use a 6.8 SPC AR-15 or my .308 AR-10. Will the.22 ARC be effective on hogs out to about 300 yards or should I go ahead and build a .6mm ARC upper...
I’m looking to get an AR for hog hunting and wanted something in between the .223 and .308 AR’s I currently have. I’ve got a CGS Hyperion K on order so it will be suppressed and potentially have a thermal. I currently have a Falkor Petra and wouldn’t mind going with their 6.5 creed but not...
The Hog saddle is kind of pricey, the non Mil-Spec version is 275.00. Initially that was a put off for me. I'm glad I bit the bullet. The build quality of the saddle is excellent and it works very well at providing support and a stable shooting platform off a tripod. I had done some reading on the saddle and it was recommended that it be mounted directly to the tripod and not to a quick change ...
I’m trying to think of something lightweight that I can take in the woods to put down hogs from 80 yards max, mostly 30-50 yards. I like the CMMG Banshee MK10. Right now I’m hunting with my AR10 in 308. I have a 6.8 SPC that’s definitely lighter but I can’t find any ammo for it. I only have...
