Legolas is a fictional character created by J.R.R Tolkien in his book, legendarium. This character played an important role in the trilogy movie of The Lord of The Rings.
I think Legolas' age gives him an advantage also: more experience, quicker, and keener reflexes. Sure Aragorn is trained, but Legolas I'm sure is trained also, and Legolas was trained by elves. Even though it would be a well fought battle, I just don't think Aragorn could withstand Legolas of Mirkwood.
Just to note: the name Legolas was not invented for the character Legolas of Mirkwood, but for a Legolas of Gondolin rather ~ with a variant 'history' to its form as revealed in the early The Book of Lost Tales. Tolkien 'borrowed' it from himself (so to speak) when he ultimately came to write LOTR.
In the books Legolas is always retrieving as many of his arrows as he can after he shoots them and also those that have been shot at him. In the movie they don't show him doing that, so I guess they just think it assumed.
Based on Legolas’s experience, comments, and personality, though, we can estimate when he was born: Thranduil, Legolas’s father, is mentioned in the First Age, though Legolas is not. Beyond this, he claims that the Noldor elves were a “strange people” to him, so we can assume that Legolas was born after the War of the Jewels.
Is Legolas blonde or dark? Tolkien went to some lengths to avoid describing Legolas: in the Pauline Baynes picture of the Fellowship, painted while he was still alive, Legolas is the only one wearing a hood over his hair.
Which Elvish grouping did Legolas and his father come from ? From what I recall in Fellowship of the Ring - Celeborn acknowledged Legolas as kin - so were they Telerin Elves imbued with Sindarian culture from Beleriand ? Were they descended from Telerin/Nandorian Elves that never entered...
As we all know, Legolas is the oldest of the fellowship- referring to Aragorn and Gimli as "children" at one time. The combination of this age and experience, combined with his probable experiences in battles long-past has led me to believe that where skill at arms, both with the bow and with the sword, is concerned, Legolas Greenleaf is truly unequaled in the trilogy.
