LSL is part of a family of products, structural composite lumber, that are made of dried and graded wood veneers, strands or flakes that are layered upon one another and bonded together with a moisture-resistant adhesive into large blocks known as billets.
Laminated strand lumber (LSL) is a type of structural composite lumber made from wood strands that are glued together under high pressure. LSL is stronger and more dimensionally stable than solid wood, making it a good choice for a variety of applications, including beams, headers, and rim boards.
Laminated Strand Lumber (LSL) is a type of engineered wood. Manufacturers press together strips of wood that once would have been considered too weak, small, or misshapen to use. This process transforms the scrap wood into solid joists and studs.
