Growing Rambutan in Southern California I just spoke with my friend who I received the tree from. He said it would be really weird if coffee came up in the three places he planted the rambutan seeds, but said its possible given he has a small, fruiting coffee plant growing in his yard. Sorry for the confusion if it turns out to be coffee. I guess only time will tell. Thanks everyone for your ...

Rambutan Fruit tree in California The closest thing you will see to it fruiting is if you buy some South American fruit from the store and place them under the tree. My goals are not to grow rambutan in maturity in pots but even to keep them happy in nursery pots until they get planted in the ground or are sold. Last year I planted well over 100 and most died. The round I planted this year are starting to sprout and ...

Which is better, Rambutan or Longan? I bought some rambutan today but they are clingstone, still good fruit but I was disappointed at how tough it was to simply eat the fruit compared to lychee pulp. Probably would be way better with freestone. The flavor of it was really really good though! Just like lychee, but with an unmistakable cantaloupe/honeydew flavor. I've never tasted longan but I ...
