I called UCSD before I took the course and they informed me the course is the equivalent of 3 semester units. I reached out to a couple of med schools and they tell me that the course doesn't satisfy their biochem requirements because they want a semester of biochem even though my course is worth 3 semester units.
I graduated from UCSD. UCSD has a great science and engineering program. As you know, UCSD is a "Research" school. They devote a lot of their money into biomedical research.
UCSD or USC? Which school would you pick if you get accepted to both schools? Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Thanks!
I will be withdrawing from UCSD and that will open up a spot. From my experience getting off the waitlist at another school, conveying your enthusiasm (to the point of assuring you will accept if offered) is helpful. Duke and UCSD are not that much different in ranking, and UCSD is a great school. If you do well, your opportunities will be amazing too. Prestige is only what you make of it. If you want the Duke name, you should choose Duke, but be sure it is for more than just name, dissatisfaction at a school could affect your performance.
UCSD has the patient population and support system, Penn has my ideal interests to explore, WashU has almost everything Penn has with less interdisciplinary strength (imo).
