Hello everyone, thought I'd post my used oil analysis to the forum in case anyone is looking to use the Valvoline Full Synthetic Extended Protection 0w-20. I purchased this car new and changed the oil at 5,138 miles and again at 9,681. Total vehicle miles are now at 15,000 miles and I switched...
Typically, 2 qts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30 added to 5.5 qts of a name brand 229.5 rated oil. I this last oil change the bulk (5 qts) was Valvoline Euro 5W-40. I know that some people will think that this method won't work, but I have seen several advantages of doing this so far.
Before switching to Valvoline Restore and Protect (5W-20), my car didn’t burn any oil at all. I was getting my oil changes done at the dealership, even though my car’s getting up there in years, I’ve always wanted it properly maintained by experienced professionals.
So if these engines that Valvoline Restore and Protect is cleaning so well got regular oil changes with higher spec oils, would Valvoline Restore and Protect have really done anything? The oils I've seen used the most in these blown motors was Mobil 1 0w40 or 15w50.
