The saint tradition of Maharashtra, known as the Bhakti Movement, played a crucial role in shaping the region’s spiritual and social life. It emerged between the 13th and 17th centuries, focusing on devotion (bhakti) to God, especially in the form of Vitthala or Vithoba of Pandharpur.
